According to reports, top left-back target Javi Galan may be moving from Celta Vigo to Barcelona for just €15 million the following year
Fichajes, a Spanish news site, claims that Javi Galan will be a cheap and effective target for Barcelona in the next season. The Catalan club can afford the left-back since Celta Vigo is selling him for €15 million.
Since his debut in La Liga two years ago, Javi Galan has become one of the most reliable left-backs in Spain. The 28-year-old moved to Celta Vigo to stay in the top level when SD Huesca was relegated to the second tier. Since then, his fame has only grown.
The Spanish left-back has had an excellent 2022–23 year, contributing to the team’s success with one goal and two assists in 15 games played. Additionally, some of Europe’s most prestigious teams have taken notice of Galan’s development. One of the clubs who may be interested in signing him next summer is Barcelona.
Over the last two summer transfer windows, Barcelona seriously investigated acquiring Galan. This summer, though, they were able to recruit Marcos Alonso after failing to do so the previous year. The Spaniard has also established himself as a regular member of the first-team squad at Spotify Camp Nou, where he has even taken on the role of central defender.
Alonso’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2023, and recent sources have indicated that Barcelona will shortly sign him to a new contract. The future of experienced left-back Jordi Alba, whose performance standards have dropped significantly, with the Blaugrana is uncertain. Alba is determined to prove his worth, but he may not be at Barcelona come the summer.
Therefore, the Catalan giants will test the waters next summer in search of a left-back. For this reason, Galan is once again on the radar in Barcelona. And with Celta Vigo asking for just €15 million to part ways with him, the 28-year-old will be an inexpensive target for Barcelona next summer.
Why doesn’t Spain ever call up Javi Galan?
He’s like the best defensive Spanish left back in the league and is decent in attack too. But what do I know.

Barcelona should still be able to afford the €15 million fees to sign the Spanish left-back despite their financial difficulties. The Catalan giants may chase more costly targets for other positions with the money they set aside for Galan. Whether or if the Spanish club accepts Barcelona’s €15 million offer to join the club next season remains to be seen.
