Barcelona Transfer News: Barcelona is allegedly among the clubs interested in signing 18-year-old attacker Evan Ferguson from Brighton & Hove Albion
Barcelona Transfer News: 90min claims that Barcelona is interested in acquiring the services of Evan Ferguson. The Catalan giants have been checking out the 18-year-old striker for Brighton & Hove Albion. Premier League heavyweights like Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in signing the player.
While growing up in Ireland, Evan Ferguson played for St. Kevin’s Boys FC and Bohemian FC. But, the adolescent sensation’s meteoric climb to fame began once he signed for Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2021. He has been a regular this season after becoming the latest in a string of promising young players discovered by the Seagulls. [ Barcelona Transfer News ]
The 18-year-old gained widespread attention after scoring a goal for the Republic of Ireland in their recent friendly victory against Latvia. With seven goals and three assists in 16 games for Brighton’s first team, Ferguson has also made his impact. Chelsea, Manchester United, and Barcelona have all taken notice of the Irishman’s improvement.

Will Barca get him?
After failing to score enough goals this season, Chelsea needs to add a striker in the next summer transfer window. In order to bring in Christopher Nkunku, the Blues will be willing to spend freely. The Frenchman, though, is hardly a star striker. With Barcelona’s interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ferguson is now a desirable replacement. [ Barcelona Transfer News ]
Manchester United, meanwhile, has been keeping tabs on his development for quite some time. They will need a new striker since Wout Weghorst isn’t expected to stay once his loan finishes. With his potential, the 18-year-old Brighton attacker is enticing.
The addition of Barcelona to the mix, though, makes things more difficult for potential bidders like Chelsea and Manchester United. Nonetheless, it’s been said again and again that the Catalan giants want to bring Aubameyang back. But, Barcelona must also establish Robert Lewandowski’s replacement. And Ferguson fits in rather well with the whole structure. [ Barcelona Transfer News ]
The young striker, just 18, can watch and learn from Lewandowski before taking over the starting role. Bayern Munich, Napoli, Newcastle United, and Liverpool are also competing with Chelsea and Manchester United for his services. But, Ferguson is content with his current club, Brighton & Hove Albion. This suggests that relocating this summer is unlikely.
