As part of their strategy to lower the salary mass and produce fresh income to assist in recruiting new players ahead of the new season, Barcelona is actively attempting to sell many unwanted players in the market. Clement Lenglet is one of the auxiliary players that might be cut. Despite Gerard Pique’s retirement at the conclusion of last year, the Frenchman’s loan at Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season is not in Xavi’s plans.
Consequently, Barcelona is attempting to sell the youngster, who once played for Sevilla. Spurs are ready to sign Lenglet on a permanent basis. So the Catalans won’t have to search far to find a buyer for the player.
Tottenham Wants To Sign A Barcelona Player For €15-20 Million
According to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham has already notified Barcelona of their intention to purchase Lenglet permanently before the start of the next season. Lenglet has impressed in his debut season with the Premier League side. His swift adaptation to the league has pleased observers, despite the fact that he was not a regular starter for the London team.
If the move goes through, Spurs may have to pay Barça a transfer fee between €15 and €20 million. Lenglet, a defender for the Blaugrana, is under contract until 2026. So they’ll have to do some convincing to get him to depart. The Frenchman has settled in well at Tottenham, so we shouldn’t expect him to raise a big stink over anything.
Meanwhile, Barcelona plans to improve their defence with the addition of Inigo Martinez. In order to give Xavi more choices at centre back, the club is set to sign the Athletic Club veteran on a loan this coming summer transfer window.
